Heather
Workman... is a firm believer in the international
definition of “youth” being
18 to 35 years of age. She has been an “expert” in the field
as long as she has been a part of it. At one time coordinating
at-risk and entrepreneurial youth programming at YES Canada-BC,
she is also known
for conducting third-party evaluations on behalf of governments
or for non-profits reporting to government funders.
Throughout her years of working for and with youth in and
around the educational system, Heather has creatively tackled
a number of labour market and publication evaluations. Designing
questionnaires, conducting focus groups and providing data
analysis both for print and online publications has been a
recent endeavor.
Heather was the Director of Training for a national telecommunications
firm and an independent youth consultant before bridging the
gap between the world of work and higher education by encouraging
college students to participate in co-operative education.
Here she designs curriculum, provides classroom instruction,
conducts individual and group counselling as well as monitors
post-secondary students and grads in local and international
work placements.
Heather
is armed with a Bachelor of History from the University of
Calgary, the UBC Certificate in Internet Marketing and Conflict
Resolution courses from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
